As I Fall in Love

I wanted to sing a song about falling in love with the Lord, Jesus. These songs tend to turn out a bit mushy and that is where I wanted to go. I believe that is valid to express in worship.

Scripturally, it draws from Song of Songs and from Ruth as well. It is all a song of commitment, covenant, and marriage. I could sing this song to my wife and I see the foreshadowing of our commitment to each other and our marriage to the wedding of the Lamb to His bride, the church. It is about falling in love with and coming to Lord Jesus. Like in Song of Songs, we are listening so hard to hear Jesus come that at the slightest sound, we hold our breath to listen for His footsteps. And then from Ruth, that we would turn to Jesus and forsake our way. A center phrase in the song is "heart in heart" and I will leave you to ponder how that seems to say both, our heart finding a home in Jesus AND that he lives in our hearts as well - heart in heart - certainly a continuation of the oneness from the previous new song (Make Us One).

The song is very much in sketch form but will give you an idea of something soon to come. I will put the PDF of the chart up as soon as I get it written out! This is a shortcut capo at 2 song... enjoy :).

As I fall in love with you,
I hold my breath
So I can hear, your footsteps come,
I hold my breath.
Then I hear you call my name.

Here we are, just we two, you're touching me.
Heart in heart, hand in hand, I'll go with you.
I will turn to you, I'll forsake my way, and hold to you.
I will give abandonly to you, my love (my Lord).
